In order to ensure you get access to the right blend of carbohydrates, fibre, protein, fats, sugars and salt, as well as vitamins and minerals, you need to ensure you eat the right foods in the appropriate quantities.

It's no use trying to starve yourself to help you to lose weight. You'll simply lose some in the immediate short term but pile it back on with (some extra usually) over the forthcoming weeks. Eating disorders often arise as a result of trying too hard to lose weight or because someone's perception of reality is inaccurate and they tend to view themselves as being fat when in truth they are far from it.

You can help your cause though by eating sensibly and sometimes avoiding certain foods that you would usually consume without a second thought. Reducing alcohol consumption is a great way to lose weight and improve your health. Being generally high in calories, drinking alcohol will promote weight gain.

Although there is evidence to support the theory that consuming one or two units a day can actually prevent heart disease, it is something that you might want to avoid in large quantities. Excessive drinking is extremely detrimental to your health and can cause you problems with your liver, brain, pancreas, stomach and your heart. It also results in high blood pressure.
