Restaurant food and weight loss

So is it possible to enjoy restaurant food and still have any hope of weight loss? Does being on a diet mean that you need to sit in every night nibbling carrots? Well it depends on the kind of restaurant food you want to eat. It's quite difficult to achieve any kind of real weight loss if you're eating in a fast food restaurant more than twice a week. This is because restaurant fast food joints tend to serve grub that is high in fat and salt whilst low in nutritional value. Just one meal in your typical burger bar is likely to provide you with more calories than you need for the whole day. Unfortunately, it doesn't provide the nutrients your body needs so that after a short period of being stuffed, you'll start to feel hungry again as your body is crying out for protein, vitamins and minerals. Hence the chances of you sticking to your weight loss plan are greatly reduced.

Another big problem with this industry is the size of the portions that are served. In an attempt to encourage customers to consume more, many establishments pile up the plates far beyond what you actually need. They feel they need to do this in order that you think you're getting a good deal for your money. And as most of us have been told since we were small children to finish what's on our plates, we'll keep eating even when we're no longer hungry. If you want to eat out, research the calorie content of different types of meals. Then break through the psychological barrier and don't feel guilty about not eating everything that's put in front of you. It's perfectly acceptable and far healthier to only eat till you feel comfortably full.
